Date:
January 26, 2017
Time:
7:30 AM - 9:00 AM EST

Event Description:
Metropolitan Orlando is rapidly becoming home to a new primary care delivery model. "Community Paramedicine" is designed to provide in-home care for home bound individuals with chronic conditions. Far too often these same individuals are using 911 emergency services to treat their chronic conditions. The community paramedicine program hopes to provide better care at a better cost to the community. A panel of local experts will be discussing the program and its impact on the local healthcare community at a Medical Office Resources of Florida (MOROF) breakfast.
One of the MOROF panelists, Ken Peach, Executive Director of the Health Council of East Central Florida, will discuss the new three-year Mobile Community Paramedicine program coming to Seminole County due to a $260,000 Innovation grant from the Florida Blue Foundation. Another panelist is Dr. Todd Husty, Medical Director for Seminole County Sherriff, SWAT. Dr. Husty’s well-known locally for his expertise on Emergency Medicine and EMS organizations. Rounding out the MOROF panel is Dr. Robert McGraw. As an academic doctor at Seminole State College, McGraw is developing the curriculum to properly train a local workforce to staff the local community paramedicine program.
